Continuing on from my last post…
4. Catholics Come Home
It breaks my heart to know that there are Catholics who have fallen away from their faith. Fortunately, there is help for anyone who falls into this group so that they come back to the Church. This website was started as a means to provide resources to help people do just that in a loving way. There is help to know why you should decide to come back to the Catholic Church, questions you may have about church teaching, and how to overcome anxiety and fear of returning to the sacrament of reconciliation or confession. Please know that if this is you, that the people of Catholics Come Home want to help you come back because you are loved and missed.
5. The Bible
Yes the Catholic faith is Biblical! The Bible can be daunting to sift through because its contents were written thousands of years ago. However many of the resources I mentioned before are helpful in knowing the truth that scripture is trying to convey to us. A good strategy to study the Bible that I heard from Catholic apologist and convert Steve Ray is that when you are reading and studying the Bible, ask as many stupid questions as possible.
6. The Catechism Of The Catholic Church
The Catechism of the Catholic Church is a book that explains the historical, theological and philosophical reasons for the beliefs, teachings, and sacraments of the Catholic Church. It is a very dense book with many footnotes from scripture, sacred tradition, the Church Fathers, and the saints to support it. This is an essential resource to help readers to know the fullness of the Catholic faith.
I challenge you to spend time this week using at least one of these resources to answer your questions or objections to the Catholic Church. I guarantee you that you will be glad you did.
