Ever since I have learned more about my faith, there have been some days or periods of time in the year that have taken on greater significance for me. There are obvious ones like Christmas and Easter. Some days are feast days for saints which can be special for us if we like or are devoted to a particular saint. May 13 is a memorable day for me because it signifies two important events I briefly recounted in my post about some places I would like to travel to before I die. Those events are my first communion and the Marian apparitions at Fatima in Portugal in 1917.
Tomorrow will mark another major event in my life. I have spent the last 33 days preparing to consecrate myself to Jesus through Mary. I prepared for this day in prayer, giving up certain earthly pleasures, and putting as much focus on God as I could with the help of this book and this website. I spent these last few weeks gaining knowledge about myself, Mary, and then Jesus. I chose to consecrate myself on this feast day of Our Lady of Fatima because that is my favorite Marian title and it will be extra special as I remember my first communion. Tomorrow is also Mother’s Day, so I found it fitting that I will remember these events while honoring my earthly mother and my mother Mary.
One of the reasons I decided to go through with this act of total consecration to Jesus through Mary is that other people who have done it recommended it to me. Everyone who has done it has told me that it brought added grace to their lives. I can’t pass up an opportunity to say yes to God. This as a way of saying yes to Jesus through Mary. Although Mary was a human, she was the greatest of all the saints and a model of how humans should live. She is the Mother of Jesus so through her, we get to know Jesus better. Tomorrow will be an amazing day!!!
